The CDC's prominence:

CDC is the custodian for all of your investments at Mahaana. This means that all of your investments are safely stored with CDC and Mahaana has no direct access to your funds.

CDC is entrusted with securing the assets of ≈95% of all mutual funds in Pakistan and 100% of all stocks traded on the Pakistan Stock Exchange

    How we secure your investments with CDC

    At Mahaana, we follow a strict verification process in collaboration with CDC to ensure the highest level of security for your investments:
    • Customer verification: Your identity is verified through NADRA and CDC verifies your bank account details when you open an account through Mahaana.
    • Transactions: CDC verifies each transaction made with your Mahaana account. Deposits can only originate from bank accounts that are in your name. Withdrawals can only be made to the bank account submitted during account opening, adding an additional layer of security against unauthorized withdrawals.
    • Limited access: Since we don’t have direct access to your funds, we send requests to CDC to perform any action (verify a transaction, purchase a sukuk, etc). CDC verifies each request and only proceeds when everything is in order.

    Data encryption in transit 
and at rest

    All data in transit is encrypted with TLS/SSL preventing criminals from reading and modifying any information. We also use the AES-256 protocol for encryption-at-rest, and frequently rotate access keys.

    CDC Investment ID (via Raast)

    When you register with Mahaana, an IBAN is generated in your name by CDC. You can use this IBAN for secure deposits.

    Enhanced security protocols

    We use strong, industry-standard protocols to keep your data safe and confidential, at rest and in transit. We have systems to detect and preempt information and security breaches. We closely monitor our systems on a 24/7 basis for unauthorized access.

    Deposits are made into a bank account with the account title of CDC - proof that all of your funds are managed by CDC only.

    What Happens to My Money if Mahaana Closes?
    If Mahaana were to cease operations, your investments would remain safe. Here’s why:
    • Separate Custody: Your funds are held and managed by CDC, not directly by Mahaana. This means that even if Mahaana closes, your money is protected by CDC's secure systems.
    Can my funds be accessed or misused by Mahaana?
    Absolutely not. Mahaana operates under strict regulatory frameworks and has robust systems in place to prevent any unauthorized access to your funds.
    Verification Process:  
    • Account Validation: CDC verifies the account titles and customer details before any transaction is processed, ensuring that only authorized individuals can make changes or access funds.
    • Transaction Approval: All financial transactions, whether deposits or withdrawals, require CDC’s approval. Mahaana informs CDC about every transaction, and only after CDC's verification and approval, the transaction is processed.
    What security measures does Mahaana have in place to protect my investments?
